Write clear instructions and assemble required materials into boxes for presenting two storytime programs in the event that regular storytime presenters are absent.

  • Library work component:
    1. Read the above materials.

    2. Use the blank "Emergency Kit Storytime Plan Sheet" to plan at least two Emergency Storytime Kits.

    3. Write instructions for using the kit using as a model the "Sample Instructions" on page 2 of "Developing Storytime Programs." These instructions are for someone who has never seen this kit before and has only 15 to 30 minutes before the program to learn how to use the kit. Make the sentences short and precisely to the point. No rambling paragraphs.

    4. Create two Emergency Storytime Kits.

    5. Place the materials and instructions for each kit in a separate box.

    6. Find a good storage place that is easily and quickly reached.

    7. To receive credit for completing this project, submit the following.

      • Filled out an "Emergency Kit Storytime Plan Sheet" for each project.

      • The instructions for using each kit. (If possible please submit all documentation as an attachment to an email.)

      • A photograph of each kit with the materials layed out in front of the box. (If possible please submit all documentation as an attachment to an email.)

      • A filled out CE Project Agreement Evaluation form (Word document)
