Purpose:
Implement a library program using Picturing America Grant posters.

Core skill:
III-B-4: “Design, implement and sponsor library programs for all ages that offer information, special skills or entertainment.”

Librarians

Learning component: Attend a CE event or read the following materials.

  • Look at the Picturing America posters.

  • Read “Program ideas for using the Picturing America posters.”

  • Please read at least one article about creating flyers.


  • Please read at least three articles about writing press releases.

Library work component:
  1. Read “Program ideas for using the Picturing America posters.”

  2. Post at least one flyer about the program outside the library.

  3. Send one newsrelease about the program to a local newspaper or write about the program in library's newspaper column.

  4. To receive credit for completing this project, submit the following to the Head of CKLS Continuing Education.

    • A photograph of the display. (Prefer digital photo sent by email.)

    • Submit a copy of the flyer about the program. (Prefer digital document sent by email.)

    • Submit a copy of the newsrelease or library's local newspaper column about the program. (Prefer digital document sent by email.)

    • A half-page to one-page description of the program. (Prefer digital document sent by email.)

    • Any documentation used by participants for the program. (Prefer digital document sent by email.)

    • Filled-out copy of the “CE Project Agreement Evaluation” form below.
